Hello friends, I've been trying to resolve a speed issue with the WireGuard app for days. Let me explain:
On Windows: Using the official WireGuard app on my PC, the speeds I achieve are practically the same as what I would get without connecting to the VPN, 630/930.
Official WireGuard App and VPN Client PRO: The speeds I get on an Android device (S24 Ultra or Tab S9) are much lower, around 130/350. I've tried different MTU values and tested the server both on my NAS with TrueNAS and powerful hardware, as well as on my Asus RT-AX86U PRO. In both cases, the speeds are very slow.
However, if I install another third-party app and configure the VPN the same way, I get speeds close to those of the PC and my internet connection, just as I do on the PC.
I don’t understand what might be happening with the official app and VPN Client PRO—whether it’s an issue on my end or something more general. As you can see, I’ve tried various solutions, but the result is always the same: the official app and VPN Client PRO cause some issue that significantly reduces speeds in my case.
I’ve tried configuring 0.0.0.0/0 and also using 0.0.0.0/1 and 128.0.0.0/1 simultaneously.
I’ve purchased VPN Client PRO, and I’d really like to figure out what might be happening so I can keep using it.
If you have any ideas about what could be causing this, I’d greatly appreciate your help.
Slow speed on Android app.
Re: Slow speed on Android app.
Hello,
the only setting that might affect the speed and/or stability of the VPN is the MTU.
As a starting point you might try setting the MTU to 1420 on both the client and server...
