Hey!
Currently I have a littel problem with the client.
When I am going downstairs to my car in the garage, I don't have any mobile network there.
Somehow the client is going then into the "Idle" state and will not change that state till I am connected to a WIFI or stop the connection and start it again manually.
This is quite bad as Waze (android auto) for example will not work till I am doing this, which is not that easy and recommended while in the car driving Also my home automation will not work if the vpn connection is not there.
Currently I am using an Pixel 7 Pro on Android 15.

Re: "Idle"
Hello,
please, try updating the app to the latest version and excluding the app from battery optimization.
P.S.
You forgot to obscure the first line containing hostname and ip address from the screenshot.

Re: "Idle"
Thanks for the quick reply
I'm already on the latest version (from today), but I've changed the battery optimization to unrestricted now.
Will try it later to see if that helps!
And thanks for the hint, I've removed the screenshot

Re: "Idle"
Ok, I tested it yesterday and today and it seems related to the wireless Android Auto connection. As soon as this is connected the vpn client goes to "Idle". If I stop and connect the vpn connection again everything is working fine. Any way to fix this? I know there is an option to stop the vpn when connected to AA, but as mentioned I need the vpn also during my drives, and somehow this worked in the past
Re: "Idle"
Please try to follow this steps:
- start the app
- tap on top left icon
- tap on "Global options"
- tap on "VPN options"
- select "Restart WireGuard connection when connnectivity change"
- save the change
- restart the VPN

Re: "Idle"
This behavior is very strange.
If I remember correctly there were no messages in the log about connectivity change.
Can you send me a new log?

Re: "Idle"
Sorry for the late response, already prepaired the screnshot of the logs but didn't have time to upload it
But yes you are right, there is nothing in the logs regarding a connectivity change..

Re: "Idle"
So the issue should not be related to the connectivity change.
The strange thing is that the VPN is restarted but then there are no more attempts to handshake.
When the VPN is in the "Idle" state, it is basically waiting for at least one packet to be routed to the VPN interface. It seems that the connection to Android auto interferes with the VPN routes.
Can you try to uncheck the "Set max handshake attempts before reconnecting" option and see what happens in the log?

Re: "Idle"
I had time to test the behaviour again today with disabled ‘Set max handshake attempts before reconnecting’ and it seems to be working now! I haven't had this option enabled for long, so it could really be the problem, but I enabled it because sometimes it tries to reconnect forever if I don't reconnect it manually.
